Job Description

Under general supervision, performs formulation activities as required for, but not limited to, transdermal, topical, oral, nasal, and ophthalmic route projects. Carries out laboratory work to support product formulation and development, stability work, excipient and packaging sourcing.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.

• Operates general analytical instruments during formulation work, such as HPLC, pH meter, viscometer, particle size testing, etc.

• Performs permeation studies with synthetic membranes or cadaver skin as necessary.

• Labels, transcribes and records documentation such as report sheets and laboratory notebooks as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.

• Performs physical testing such as particle size, adhesion to steel, viscosity, etc.

• Writes technical reports as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related science field from an accredited college or university 3 years related laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 Knowledge of:

 

• Pertinent SOP’s related to pharmaceutical laboratory testing, analyses and documentation.

• HPLC instrument operation methods and techniques.

• Business, scientific and personal computer hardware and software applications.

• Business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

• FDA, cGLP, and SOP regulatory rules, regulations and guidelines.

• Current Company policies, practices and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
