Job Description

At Teva Runcorn we are proud of the reputation that we have earned for being able to commercialise new aseptic sterile products for our group in an agile, efficient and compliant manner. We manufacture sterile products for use in the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

 

Today, we employ around 500 people, working in a variety of roles encompassing everything from quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, research and development, engineering, microbiology, and packaging.

 

We are currently looking for an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Specialist (EC&I) to join us in Runcorn. The EC&I Specialist will set, maintain, monitor and improve automated packing equipment used for the packing of blow-fill-seal nebules and sterile pre filled syringes on a range of shift patterns.  This role will perform operational maintenance, be proactively involved in changeover reduction and improvement projects. This is a key position, working as part of a team to ensure final packaging equipment is available and set up to achieve customer service and cost targets using lean principles.  

 

Main purpose of the role

 

  • To ensure that planned maintenance activities are completed on time in accordance with maintenance plan.
  • To implement continuous improvement plans to improve performance of manufacturing equipment.
  • To ensure that work standards within the Control and Instrumentation area are implemented to provide compliance with internal & external audit acceptance criteria
  • To implement (either through self or competent others) calibration work required to meet the calibration schedule to current company procedures.
  • To implement (either through self or competent others) C&I maintenance work required to meet the maintenance schedule to current company procedures.
  • To maintain all calibration / maintenance documentation and supporting systems to ensure complete calibration / maintenance records are available for all instruments used within manufacturing.
  • To maintain the calibration / maintenance area and associated equipment to ensure readiness for audit at all times.
  • To inspect and test the operation of electrical / control equipment and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments to ensure downtime is minimal.
  • Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts.
  • Install electrical, control and measurement equipment on existing and new plant equipment and processes.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Minimum HND, a Degree in related field of study is preferable, or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of PLC systems (preferably Siemens S7, TIA Portal & Rockwell 5000 Logix), able to use software to aid with fault finding.
  • Good knowledge of electrical components (motor control, SSR’s & safety systems).
  • Good understanding of electronics, fault finding techniques and system interrogation
  • Good understanding of instrumentation and control loops, fault finding techniques and system interrogation.
  • Able to discern appropriate skills needed from other experts and to interface with correct business experts.
  • Able to translate key aspects of operation and control into clear operating procedures or instructions
  • Good appreciation of CSV, Mechanical and technical ‘know how’, Process Thinking.
  • Good PLC, SCADA, drives and automation experience.
  • Good knowledge / understanding of plant / process Instrumentation and controls, electrical components and systems, safety systems and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Good communication, teamwork and influencing skills
  • Professional interface with equipment suppliers
  • Ownership/ accountability for systems under control
