Job Description

Teva is searching for a Packaging Engineer to join our team in Irvine, CA!


Teva Packaging Engineers provide Engineering support to implement packaging process equipment projects including responsibility and accountability for investigation, specification, purchasing, scheduling, implementation, and troubleshooting of process equipment. 


You will:  

  • Supervise personnel, plan daily work schedule and provide training for machine operator positions within the department, and ensure quality is maintained per cGMPs, SOPs and CFRs.
  • Provide project and process equipment engineering expertise and guidance supporting packaging process improvements for new product development, capital project engineering, and validation.
  • Interact with cross functional teams including: maintenance, Packaging, and quality to identify project opportunities, via TPM, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and other strategies.
  • Develop equipment design and specifications, evaluation of marketing forecasts for line speeds and size, facility design input, and bid analyses and engineering solutions for cost effective and efficient operations using compliant change control procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering solutions, project schedules, tracking costs, preparing status reports, attending and participating in team meetings and communicating issues and progress to management.
  • Identify and troubleshoot potential or current Packaging problems and support maintenance mechanics in identifying and resolving problems in order to maintain and potentially increase productivity.
  • Lead Engineering projects involving cost reduction, process equipment improvements, process equipment optimization, and validation support.
  • Prepare and present basic technical investigative and analytical reports pertaining to Packaging processes and systems.
  • Prepare basic specifications and protocols for the development, testing and qualification of Packaging processes and equipment.
  • Supervise and train employees on new and current processes and equipment per SOPs and cGMPs.
  • Ensure the area and equipment is operating per procedure and compliance standards.


  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering discipline or similar required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 10 years in a Manufacturing Engineering position or equivalent technical experience required.
  • 2 years of Project Management experience required.
  • 2 years of Manufacturing Team supervision experience required.
  • 3+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience in a GMP regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or Food) with Sterile/Aseptic environment experience required.
  • Experience working with packaging systems such as: Labeler, Carton Packer, Case Packer, Serialization or similar required.
  • Computer literacy required, including experience with contemporary software packages: MS Office ranging from Microsoft Project, Excel, JMP Statistical Software, Minitab and spreadsheets to analytical software tools.
  • Understanding of constraint theory, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis required.
  • Training in CAD, etc. systems preferred.
