Job Description

Teva is searching for an Associate Director, Automation to join our team in Irvine!

The AD, Automation will lead the Automation team and is responsible for the design, implementation and maintaining the manufacturing and central utilities automation systems, process control and supporting infrastructure at TEVA Parenteral, Irvine.

You will:

  • Provide direction and oversight for all activities of the Automation team and define priorities and direction for all automation and process control systems activities
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership to the Automation team in alignment with the corporate and site standards and guidelines
  • Ensure compliance of the manufacturing automation and controls systems with regulatory agencies guidelines; including direct interaction with regulatory agencies and corporate teams
  • Develop and execute resource and staffing strategies to ensure the delivery of activities and scope of work from various internal groups and external consultants/contractors
  • Prepare regular reports related to automation engineering group activities; including KPI’s, schedules, resource needs, budget and other pertinent information to site leadership team and global network
  • Set policies and procedures for contract and consultants firms engaged in the support, design and installation of automation and computerized control systems
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for the start-up and troubleshooting of process equipment and critical automation systems
  • Provide input, review and approval for policies and procedures associated with the commissioning and qualification of process automation systems and manufacturing related computerized systems
  • Provide Subject Matter Experts to support internal and regulatory agencies inspections, including presentations and technical reports
  • Enterprise Asset Management (EAM): assign, review and closeout routine and non-routine work orders. Review EAM job plans, make changes where needed
  • Oversee Kronos timekeeping, approve end of pay period timecards, enter and maintain record of vacation, sick, personal days
  • Verify all direct reports keep up to date with compliance, GMP and safety training
  • Seek out cost savings, document savings and submit for review
  • Provide input and assistance in maintaining maintenance log for GMP and other critical areas.  Along with others, oversee responsibility for change control
  • Ensure compliance with Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. Equivalent combination of education/experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • 12 + years’ experience in pharmaceutical automation in a GLP/GMP environment and 10+ years previous supervisory experience required
  • Demonstrated prior experience with SCADA, PLC systems, Computerized Control System, Vision Systems, Serialization and BMS to support Utilities System
  • In depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, and comfortable working with the FDA, EPA, township and local authorities required
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with people, supervise assigned personnel, and problem solving
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required
