Job Description

Position Summary /Objective: 

Performs analytical troubleshooting of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, including mechanical / electrical systems and instrumentation and controls (I&C).  Also provides technical expertise to support site projects, install and test equipment and/ or controls to improve or replace existing systems.

This will be a 2nd Shift position. Training will be on 1st shift.

Essential Duties / Functions

  • Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical and electronic pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance/Engineer purchasing and tracking system
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical FDA Part 11, cGMPs, OSHA, NFPA 70E Electrical Safety and NFPA 70B Electrical Maintenance
  • Knowledge of with PLC I SCADA control systems to facilitate troubleshooting.
  • Support site BMS, MES system and site network/servers system
  • Recommends system and process changes to improve overall efficiency of facilities automation engineering department and manufacturing operations.
  • Performs Control Loop Tuning and Optimization.
  • Partners with maintenance/engineer to ensure understanding of technical issues and corrective actions to be taken while minimizing down production time.    Performs minor repairs as needed.
  • Support/execute CAPA, Change Control& Deviation investigation
  • Implement small equipment/instrumentation upgrades and work with Equipment Qualification group to test system modifications.
  • Coordinates and oversees spare parts inventory of Manufacturing and MRF facilities.
  • Provide weekend & off shift support calls
  • Provide weekend coverage

Qualifications

Education Required: 

  • 3 to 5 years field engineering I technician experience in a pharmaceutical Manufacturing environment

Experience Required:

  • Solid dosage experience preferred.  Fluid bed granulation technology strongly desired.
  • Thorough understanding of process control systems, sensors, actuators, instrument loops, control valves, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and pneumatics.
  • 1 to 3 years' experience  with  Allen Bradley PLC5 I SLC I ControlLogix PLCs. Wonderware InTouch experiences a plus

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications required:

  • Solid communication skills and good documentation practices.
  • Ability  to read and understand electrical schematics, loop diagrams and
  • P&IDs.
  • Strong electrical I mechanical aptitude with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot systems in order to determine permanent corrective actions.
  • Strong demonstrated partnering skills to resolve issues and work in a team environment.
