Job Description

Teva is hiring a Supervisor Packaging who will supervise the work and employee activities within the packaging department, complying with all cGMP, SOP, EHS and Company and government agency requirements.

Essential Duties / Functions

  • Supervise the filling and packaging of solid dose product.
  • Supervise and coordinate employees in the Packaging Department.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance cGMP’s.
  • Write and update SOP’s pertaining to department activities and review with employees.
  • Train packaging personnel on revised procedures, new equipment, systems and/or application.
  • Possess a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency, constantly evaluating work practices in the spirit of improvement.
  • Supervise the labeling area, including bottle labels, outserts, medication guides and inventory control labels.
  • Ensure the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control.
  • Recommend procedures in order to increase the efficiency of the department.
  • Make certain that packaging standards are adhered to and execute disciplinary action when required.
  • Work within prescribed yearly operational budget.
  • Conduct thorough investigations pertaining to packaging deficiencies.
  • Interfere and support cross functional departmental needs to support production.
  • Ensure that OSHA Standards are maintained. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment; promotes safety and safe behaviors.
  • To identify and prevent health and safety issues, such as dress code, personal hygiene, equipment properly maintained, etc, report and document accident and incidents immediately by following proper procedures
  • Provide input into the Inventory Control System.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager/Director.
  • Maintain Employee Time Card System, employee work hours, vacation, and leave of absence and control overtime.
  • Has the ability to seek out and implement production process improvements to improve quality, reduce cost and improve safety.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.


Education Required

  • Minimum High School diploma required.
  • BS/BA preferred in Science or related field.


Experience Required:

  • 2 – 5 years of supervisory experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing / packaging environment; solid dosage experience preferred.


Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications required

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical cGMP’s.
  • Strong knowledge of Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with serialization and aggregation process.
  • Adaptable to change, being flexible to cover different shifts when required.
  • Adaptable to changing work priorities; willingness to perform a variety of tasks
  • Ability to follow production schedules.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills.
  • Works well within Team Structure, self-motivated.
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Trackwise & Document Control System (are plus), ERP System, PC literate.
  • Knowledge in various Packaging Equipment e.g. Tablet/Capsule Filler, Capper, Labeler etc.


Physical Demand Requirement

  • Ability to lift 25lbs
  • Walk/stand/sit as needed
